We are on SAP-BW without HANA and without PAK at the moment (Oracle DB). Most of our planning is done on material level.
Due to the fact that we have all material master data available in our BW - and our controllers would like to be flexible - we are enriching the data from the different parts of material master data to our planning data (e.g. mat_plant, mat_sales, mat_classification and some customer data).
Due to the fact that we have e.g. in one sales department 200.000 records for one planning period the derivation is taking some minutes now. We have optimized our coding to use the buffers and we are using the "fully buffered" feature for the relevant tables allready. Which means I have no idea how to improve the performance further.
The question is:
Does HANA support derrivation of characteristics (maybe only SAP Standard derivation is supported and not the ABAP exits from own derivations)?
Does anyone has experience with characteristic derivation with HANA + PAK? If HANA does support characteristic derivation - does it improve the performance? It would be nice if we could change some minutes of processing time to some seconds whith introducing HANA.
We have no problems with normal reporting but planning is really slow if we have several hundred thousand records (with our system).
